Carlos Tusquets is the founder and executive chairman of Trea Asset Management, one of Spain's leading independent asset managers, with more than €8bn in assets under management.
Before Trea, Carlos founded FIBANC, an innovative Spanish financial group specializing in wealth management, which he grew until its acquisition by the Italian group Mediolanum in 2000 (listed in Italy, with a market capitalization of >€10bn and €129bn in assets under management). Since then he has also served as chairman of Mediolanum in Spain.
Beyond his entrepreneurial track record, Mr. Tusquets has played a key role in the Spanish financial sector. He was chairman of Círculo de Economía — an association bringing together leading business figures, academics and policymakers — and led EFPA España for 16 years. He has also served on the boards and investment committees of international groups such as 3i (a private equity firm listed on the London Stock Exchange with more than £25bn in assets under management) and Rothschild (a financial services group with ca. €124bn in assets under management), and is a member of CAREC (Consell Assessor per a la Reactivació Econòmica i el Creixement) of the Government of Catalonia.
In his spare time, Carlos maintains a close connection to the world of sport: he served as treasurer of FC Barcelona from the early 1980s until recently — playing a decisive role in Diego Maradona's transfer to the club in 1982 — and went on to serve as the club's interim president in 2020.
